Welcome back to Small Daily Habits, the podcast where we talk about simple, sustainable changes that lead to real, lasting health. I’m Christine, your host, certified personal trainer, menopause specialist, and now, an official FASTer Way to Fat Loss coach!
Over the last year or so, life got a little off the rails for me. Between recovering from a frozen shoulder, fracturing my foot, and moving my entire family from NH to FL, I found myself slipping into complacency. My workouts were inconsistent due to some injury limitations, my nutrition was mostly good but could be better, and I just didn’t feel like the me I wanted to be. I know I’m not alone in this. I’m sure that each of you listening has been there too at one time or another.
But here’s the good news: getting back on track doesn’t have to be hard, The FASTer Way made it so simple to rebuild my habits, fuel my body properly, and feel truly strong again. In today’s episode, I’m walking you through my journey—week by week—so you can see exactly why this program works. Plus, I have a free intermittent fasting quiz for you so you can see what timing is right for you.
Week 1: Hooked
Right from the start, I knew I had found something special. The FASTer Way to Fat Loss app is a game-changer—it’s user-friendly, packed with everything you need, and makes it so simple to follow the program.
Right from the start, I knew I had found something special. My 6-week round began on Monday January 27th, and I had signed up to be a coach on Feb 1st. That’s how much I believed in it. FASTer Way’s messaging of progress over perfection, listening to your body, and consistently talking about other lifestyle factors that work together to produce the best results had me hooked.
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by nutrition plans or complicated workouts, everything was right there in one place at the click of a button. I could track my progress, begin a workout with plenty of modifications, follow simple and delicious meal guides, and dive into expert coaching that made me feel supported and motivated.
The best part? I wasn’t beating myself up for falling off track—I was just excited to start fresh because at The FASTer Way we value progress over perfection!
Week 2: The Genius of the FASTer Way Strategy
By week two, I started seeing the magic behind the FASTer Way system. It’s not just about working out and eating better—it’s about timing everything strategically for maximum fat loss and muscle retention. Two very key things for women over 40.
A Week of Workouts with FASTer Way:
- Monday & Tuesday – HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) paired with low-carb eating. This combo helps burn fat efficiently and improves metabolic flexibility. That means your body’s ability to jump back and forth between burning carbs vs fats for fuel. I’ll dive more into how this magic works in my next 6 week round starting Monday Feb 24th.
- Wednesday & Thursday – Strength training paired with high-carb days. Yes, carbs! These days fuel muscle growth and help maintain energy levels.
- Friday – Active recovery. Think walking, swimming, yoga, or light movement to support active recovery.
- Saturday – BIG leg day! Heavy lifting to build strength and boost metabolism. IT’s also our treat day. Enjoy guilt free because it’s all about balance not deprivation.
- Sunday – Rest and recovery—because balance hard work with rest is key. Hear me when I say, you WILL NOT see the muscle gains or the fat loss you want to see if you do not rest. Rest is just as important to the big picture of overall health. Don’t skip it!
This approach took the guesswork out of when and what to eat, and it made workouts feel purposeful instead of random. Yes, even as a coach I struggle sometimes with figuring out what to do each day. Not because I don’t know but this little thing called decision fatigue. The struggle is real and it’s nice to just open the app and press play. The workouts are all about 30 minutes or less so very efficient and doable. You will work hard but not to the point where you are causing too much stress to the body like extended cardio sessions tend to have at this stage in life.
Week 3: Seeing and Feeling the Results
By week three, I could see and feel the difference—not just physically, but mentally. My energy was up, I was sleeping more soundly, my muscles felt stronger, and my confidence was back. This last year really threw me for a loop, and I started getting hard on myself about why I wasn’t progressing like I thought I should be. I realized it was just a stressful time in my life and now that the move is over, we are settled in, and my injuries are behind me I can finally focus on living my best, healthy life moving forward.
But here’s what I loved the most—The FASTer Way isn’t about restriction, deprivation, or chasing some quick fix. It was all about creating a sustainable lifestyle.
As a coach, I’ve seen so many programs that demand perfection for results. The FASTer Way? It’s realistic. It meets you where you’re at and gives you the tools you need to thrive—whether you’re just getting started or, like me, getting back on track after a rough season.
Week 4: My Results So Far
I think this is a good time to mention that during my 4 weeks in the program I celebrated 2 birthdays (one being my own), Valentine’s Day, and a 2-day trip to Universal. Life happens and you know what? I still did great and you can too!
Did I stick to my plan 100%? Nope. Did I feel guilty about it? Also, nope because I planned ahead, ate whole foods for most meals and chose when I was going to go off plan and made some slight adjustments for that. Guess what? I still lost 6 pounds in 4 weeks. 6lbs that I haven’t been able to budge during the last year.
However, at The FASTer Way to Fat Loss we value non-scale wins over pounds lost because not all pounds are created equal. AND in this program, you are simultaneously building muscle which can affect the numbers on the scale. So here are my non-scale wins. Since starting the program, I have more energy, less cravings, I’m sleeping more soundly, and I am feeling stronger and more confident. Heck, even if I didn’t lose 6 pounds, I’d be happy with those results and I’m confident you’ll be happy with yours as well!
