Is There a FASTer Way to Fat Loss? Part 2

Hey friend, so how does a busy, 47-year-old perimenopausal woman go from feeling like her body is betraying her in every way, to dropping 15 pounds and 10 inches, increasing energy and quality of sleep, as well as feeling stronger and more confident than ever in just 12 weeks? Today, I’m giving you a behind-the-scenes look at my continued journey with the FASTer Way to Fat Loss and what’s happened in weeks 7 through 12 of my journey.  In Episode 19 I shared the first half of my adventure and a little more about the program so if you haven’t listened to that one you may want to start there. Tune in!

Welcome back to Small Daily Habits, the podcast where we talk about simple, sustainable changes that lead to real, lasting health. I’m your host Christine Miller, certified personal trainer, menopause specialist, and FASTer Way to Fat Loss coach.

If you’re new to the podcast, let me give you a little bit of background before we dive in.  I’m a former dance major from Florida State University, mom of three, and I’ve been in the fitness space for quite some time. I first got certified back in 2006 and spent years working in gyms, teaching group fitness classes, and even ran my own FIT4MOM franchise helping other moms stay active through pregnancy and beyond.

Eventually, I stepped away to take a 9–5 so I could be more available for my kids before and after school. But once I hit my mid-40s and started experiencing some unexpected changes (hello, perimenopause), I knew I needed answers. So, I got recertified, became a menopause specialist, and most recently earned my FASTer Way to Fat Loss certification.

Why? Because I wanted to better understand myself and what I was going through.  Now, I help other women do the same. This podcast is all about sharing what I’ve learned so you can feel empowered, supported, and strong in your own skin.

In episode 19 of Small Daily Habits, I shared what happened in the first half of my journey with the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. After a rocky 2024 filled with two injuries (frozen shoulder and a fractured foot) as well as a major move, I was ready to feel like my old fit self again. And in just 4 weeks in, I felt stronger, more energized, and was down 6 lbs. But that was just the beginning.

Quick recap of the first 6 weeks:

  • Got back into a consistent rhythm of exercising and eating right
  • Noticed major non-scale wins such as better sleep, more energy, less stress, and reduced cravings ( I always craved something sweet right after lunch)
  • Lost 6 pounds
  • And perhaps most importantly: I fell in love with strength training again. Sometimes it takes being away from something to realize how much you appreciate what your body used to be able to do.  It’s been really eye opening and empowering to gain my strength back and I don’t want to take that for granted again.  I want to carry this strength with me as I age.

The Next 6 Weeks

Since continuing with the VIP membership, I’ll explain more about that in a moment. I’ve now lost a total of 15 pounds and 10 inches.  This includes 3 inches from my waist.

But what I’m most proud of?

I’ve built serious strength. I’ve gone from lifting 5–20 lb weights in various lifts, to lifting 10–50 lb weights consistently. That’s not just a number to me. It’s functional strength to live life on my terms. It’s healing I did to recover from 2 injuries. That’s me getting my muscle mass and bone density back. It’s energy that carries me through the day. And it’s confidence.  I can’t even begin to describe how this has changed not just by body but my mind and emotional wellbeing.  I feel like I’m in control again and that has set a fire in me to help others do the same.

However, I would like to point out that not all journeys will look the same.  We all begin at different starting lines, face different life circumstances, challenges, and responsibilities. That’s why your progress will look different from mine.  Comparing your progress to someone else’s can leave you feeling frustrated or discouraged. I share my success not to boast or set unrealistic expectations, but to show you that this program does work. Your results will vary based on consistency, your season of life, and what your body is ready for right now. Progress looks different for everyone and that’s okay. What matters most is that you show up for YOU!

I know starting something new can feel scary.  Especially when you’re not sure if it’ll work or if you’ll be able to stick with it. You may be thinking, What if I fail?
