Welcome!
Welcome to the final episode of Small Daily Habits before our summer break. I’m your host Christine Miller, personal trainer, menopause specialist, and FASTer Way to Fat Loss coach. Today I wanted to leave you with a powerful message to carry you through this season.
Because summer isn’t just a break in routine, it’s a chance to reset your story. And if you’ve been dragging your past failures around like dead weight, I want to help you break free. Let’s chat about choosing your identity, letting go of old narratives, and showing up just for YOU. Not for approval, not for perfection, but for the sole purpose of living your healthiest life to do all the things you love with all the people you cherish.
Unlocking Health Over 40
As a personal trainer I’ve worked with hundreds of women that have worked hard on their health. Some have seen great results. Others have been frustrated. Why? Most of the time it’s because they are focusing on the wrong things. Things that feel like a lot of work but that aren’t reaping the benefits. Some examples are, killing themselves for hours in the gym, or depriving themselves of food because they want to lose weight. Eating less and working out more has been the popular diet culture messaging but it isn’t serving us anymore. Especially women approaching or well into their menopause years.
So, what if the work you’ve done hasn’t paid off in the past? Does it mean you should give up? Not at all, it means you haven’t found the right solution to your problem yet but today very well could be the day that changes all that. Close your eyes for a minute if you are in a safe place to do so and ask yourself these questions.
Reflect
What if my past failures had zero influence on my future? Let’s wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
What if the only thing keeping me stuck in my health journey is the very belief that I’m stuck?
Here’s the thing most people never realize: Your reality is whatever you decide it’s going to be.
Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
Let that sink in for a moment. “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
So, let’s begin believing in ourselves and the power we have over our health and our reality. Whatever health goals you have, no matter what they are, I want you to know that they ARE achievable. Just because you haven’t achieved them before doesn’t mean you aren’t capable of achieving them now.
If you don’t know how, that’s OK, that’s what people like me are here for. We all need guidance. Do you think I always knew what the next right step was? Absolutely not! I asked questions, I found others who were doing what I wanted to do, I studied their methods, I got certified, and I continue to learn, grow, and evolve. You can too!
Struggling vs Failing
Now, let’s talk about struggling versus failing. The only way you can truly fail is if you give up completely. Your struggles don’t have to turn into your failures.
In fact, your adversities are what forge your strength. Growth is seldom a straight line. We stretch, we struggle, then we settle into a groove that works for us. Then, something new gets introduced and we begin all over again. It’s the cyclical nature of change and evolution.
Transforming
A story I like to share when I talk about overcoming struggle is the story of how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. A caterpillar transforms within its cocoon. And when the transformation is complete, it must struggle to get itself out of that cocoon. Not because life is cruel, but because that struggle is what gives the butterfly the strength to use its wings and fly.
If someone came along and helped that butterfly get out of the cocoon so it didn’t have to struggle then that butterfly would not gain the strength to use its wings. Much like I can give you the tools you will need to build your cocoon and begin your transformation but I can’t do the work for you. You must fight through the struggles so you have the strength to fly.
The discomfort you’re in? It’s shaping you from the inside out. So as you head into summer, I want you to leave your past behind. I want you to get a little bit uncomfortable. That may mean you need to leave some things behind in order to become this new identity you want to embody.
Your past is a series of stories. Chapters in your life that have already ended. Maybe not the way you wanted, but it’s over. And what you write next? Well, that’s entirely up to you.
Closing Thoughts
That’s a wrap friend! I’m taking the next couple of months off the mic, to enjoy time with my family this summer, to regroup, and to work behind the scenes on some exciting new ideas I can’t wait to share with you this fall. But just because I’m away, doesn’t mean you have to stop growing. This podcast is filled with episodes, 32 to be exact to keep your momentum going this summer.

No matter how you decide to spend your summer, I want you to remember this:
Your past is just a story and isn’t meant to be stacked against you.
It’s meant to catapult you toward growth but only if you see it that way.
This is your permission slip to drop your old story.
Leave the past in the past.
And decide, from this moment forward to become who you were always meant to be.
You are not too late.
Or too early.
You are right on time and you are just getting started.
I’ll see you back here on Friday August 29th with new energy and exciting new opportunities to share.
Remember, BIG changes begin with Small Daily Habits!
Until next time…
Wishing you much love, health, and happiness,
Christine
