After taking the summer off from recording my podcast, I’m back with fresh energy, new ideas, and exciting updates for the Small Daily Habits community. This season reminded me that health (and life) has rhythms. Sometimes that means slowing down, reconnecting, and giving yourself grace instead of just pushing forward.
Today, I’m sharing a behind the scenes look at my summer, how I stayed on track with my health goals during travel, and what’s ahead for my podcast and coaching business. Tune in here.

My Summer in a Snapshot
This summer was filled with family, celebrations, and travel. Here are a few highlights:
- Family visits: We had relatives from New Hampshire and Arizona visit our Florida home for the very first time. One special highlight was watching my daughter perform in The Little Mermaid with lots of friendly faces in the audience.
- Concert fun: We headed to Orlando with my boys for a Post Malone concert. Such a fun night!
- Time with grandparents: One of my sons spent the summer in New Hampshire with my mom. The one-on-one time was priceless for both of them.
- 25th wedding anniversary: In July, my husband and I celebrated in Nashville. The Grand Ole Opry was the highlight of the trip, and I highly recommend it if you’ve never been.
- Back-to-school transitions: My daughter started her first year of school in Florida (last year she was online), and while there were a few bumps at first, we’ve found our rhythm now.
- Closing out summer: We returned to New Hampshire for a wedding, quick family visit, and to bring my son back to Florida for his senior year of college.
It was a busy at times, relaxing at others, and very fulfilling. I’m grateful for the memories and recharged for the fall!
How I Stayed Healthy This Summer
Summertime often means disrupted schedules, more social events, and vacations. All of which can make staying on track with health goals more challenging. But here’s what worked for me:
1. Daily Movement
As a former dancer and personal trainer, movement has always been a big part of my life. These days, with more computer and podcasting work, I have to be intentional. This summer, I made sure to:
- Strength train 3 days a week
- HIIT 1-2 days a week
- Prioritize active recovery with walks, yoga, or Pilates 2-3 days a week
- Move every single day, even while traveling even if it’s just getting steps in or stretching before bed
2. Tracking Nutrition (Most Days)
Using the FASTer Way app helped me stay mindful and consistent. While I tracked most of my meals, I gave myself grace when traveling. If I wasn’t as accurate, I didn’t stress because a few days off doesn’t derail long-term progress. I got right back on track when I came home.
3. Intermittent Fasting with Flexibility
I stuck to a 12–14 hour fasting window most days but adjusted as needed when travel or late dinners shifted my schedule slightly. Consistency, not perfection was the theme this summer.
4. Mindful Nutrition (with Treats Included!)
I loosened up a bit over the summer and enjoyed ice cream, dairy, and gluten more often than usual. The difference? I was mindful about how these foods made me feel and didn’t fall into guilt or an “all-or-nothing” mindset.
5. Progress Over Perfection
Health is not about sticking to a plan perfectly. It’s about learning, adjusting, and staying consistent over time. One of my biggest takeaways:
Discipline brings knowledge, and knowledge brings freedom.
When you know how your body responds to different foods, habits, and rhythms, you gain the freedom to enjoy life while still moving toward your goals.
What’s Next for Small Daily Habits
This summer also gave me time to step back from constant podcast production and focus on my clients. I’ve built new connections, refreshed my energy, and I’m excited about what’s coming this fall.
Here’s what you can expect moving forward:
- A new schedule: Episodes will now drop every other Friday.
- A mix of solo episodes and guest interviews: Next week, I’ll be joined by Ashley Rocha, CEO of Ladywell, to talk about building better hormone habits starting as early as puberty.
- Fresh tools for women in midlife: With FASTer Way, we just wrapped up our largest challenge ever, and there are now brand-new roadmaps for women struggling with cortisol dysfunction. This means even more personalized support for clients who are stressed, drained, and ready for change.
Closing Thoughts
Summer reminded me that health and life are about balance. Vacations, family time, and treats like ice cream don’t ruin your progress. What matters most is consistency, awareness, and trusting yourself to get back on track knowing that is what makes you feel best.
As we head into a new season, I’m excited to continue this journey with you. Together, we’ll keep learning, growing, and building the small daily habits that create big change.
