Norwex Questions Answered
Last week I wrote a blog post about ditching your toxic cleaners and highlighted a Norwegian company named Norwex. In case you missed it here it is. In this week’s blog post, I will address some frequently asked questions about making the switch.
What makes Norwex products different from traditional cleaning products?
What makes Norwex products unique is that they utilize innovative microfiber technology. These microfibers are extremely fine and have the ability to remove up to 99% of bacteria from surfaces with just water.
When using traditional cleaning products that rely on chemical ingredients to kill bacteria, you are not removing them from your household surfaces, you are just pushing them around. Norwex products offer a chemical-free cleaning experience that actually works to remove the bacteria instead of just killing it. It’s called a mechanical clean rather than a chemical clean. Watch the video below to see this in action.
How do I effectively use Norwex microfiber cloths?
All you need with Norwex microfiber is the cloth of your choosing and water. Wet the cloth and go to work on whatever surfaces you are cleaning. The microfiber captures dirt, dust, and bacteria, using their tiny fingerlike fibers, leaving surfaces clean and streak-free. After each use, simply rinse the cloth thoroughly and hang it to dry and re-use for your next cleaning project, or toss it in the washing machine to be laundered with other like items.
Can I use Norwex products for all types of cleaning tasks?
Yes, Norwex offers a variety of products suitable for all your cleaning needs. From floors to ceilings, kitchens to bathrooms, and everything in between, Norwex has a cloth for the job. Each cloth and cleaning product is designed with a specific job in mind. Check out this short video highlighting our best sellers and explaining what each are used for.
Are Norwex products safe for people with allergies or sensitivities?
Norwex products are generally safe for people with allergies or sensitivities. Since Norwex products use only microfiber and water, they minimize exposure to potentially irritating chemicals. However, Norwex does sell natural cleaners as well as personal care items so if you have known sensitivities it’s always a good idea to test a small, inconspicuous area before making the switch.
How do I care for and maintain Norwex products?
Caring for Norwex products is as easy as 1,2,3.
- Launder in washing machine on hot, with like items. I wash all my Norwex together in one load. Hot water opens the fibers to release all grim, dirt, and bacteria the cloth picked up while cleaning. Do not wash Norwex cloths with items such as towels as the lint will stick to the microfiber and make it less effective.
- Wash with a natural detergent free of dyes, phosphates, and fillers. Norwex offers liquid, powder, and laundry sheets for all your washing needs but any natural detergent will work.
- Avoid using dryer sheets, fabric softener, or bleach with your Norwex microfiber. These products leave residue behind that cling to the microfiber and make it less effective over time. Dryer balls is the way to go when dryer your Norwex items.
Can Norwex products replace all traditional cleaning products?
I’m biased but in my humble opinion the answer is yes. There may be an occasional exception but for your everyday cleaning needs, Norwex has you covered. As always, it’s important to assess your specific needs and preferences. Going natural is a process and you don’t have to change everything all at once. Start small and grow from there.
Where can I buy Norwex products?
Norwex is only sold online through independent consultants. I joined the Norwex team in 2015 but there are thousands of consultants across the United States. Shop on my website here or you can search for consultants in your area here by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking find a consultant and filling in where you live. If you have questions don’t hesitate to reach out. Good luck in your new green cleaning adventure!
In conclusion, Norwex products offer an effective alternative to traditional cleaners as well as a sustainable approach to everyday cleaning methods. By reducing chemical usage and incorporating innovative microfiber technology Norwex is changing the face of the way we clean our homes. By addressing these frequently asked questions, I hope I have inspired you to green your cleaning routine.
Until next time….
