Welcome to Small Daily Habits!

Hi! My name is Christine and I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself to those of you who are new here. I am a mom, wife, certified personal trainer and menopause specialist, and it is my honor to give you a peek inside my day-to-day life as a health-conscious mom who is determined to make my home and those who dwell here, healthy in mind, body, and spirit.

I began Small Daily Habits 7 months ago and today I am sharing a revamped version of my very first blog post.

Why?

Because it’s the new year and it seems very fitting at this moment.

My mission is to model a lifestyle that inspires. One that fills you with hope that anyone can build a life around optimal health and wellness AND make it one you truly enjoy!

I also hope to portray that you don’t have to be perfect to do so. I still eat fast food on occasion, skip workouts when life gets crazy (or I get lazy), and generally fall victim to being human and imperfect.

Progress over perfection is what I strive for and the “all or something mentality.” You can read more about that here.

Let’s be honest…many of us have the desire to be healthier in one way or another. However, we often find ourselves overwhelmed with where to start or unsure of how to make lasting changes. Not to mention, in our ever-busy world, we are always short on time. That’s where Small Daily Habits comes in!

I will guide your steps and help you establish routines that fit YOU and YOUR lifestyle. Soon you will see that small changes can lead to BIG results and these daily routines are the key to long-term success.

What is ONE thing you can change today that will greatly impact your health in the near future?

Think about that for a moment…

My suggestion is to take a few moments today to determine ONE thing that needs your immediate attention.

Maybe you need to hydrate more, go to sleep earlier, improve your mental health, get some exercise, incorporate more fruits and veggies into your nutrition plan, or get outside more.

OR maybe you need some alone time to collect your thoughts or time to hook up with an old friend to chat while doing something healthy like taking a walk, meal prepping together, or planning a much-needed vacation. Only you know what you need right now.

So, what is it?

Once you choose your ONE thing, ask yourself what is ONE small step you can take right now to make it happen?

Then do it.

How does that make you feel?

I’m willing to bet it feels amazing and you want more. So, ask yourself again, what is ONE more small step I can take?

Then do it.

You see where I am going with this?

Simple in concept but not easy to implement when you want results yesterday right?

You are going to have to trust me on this one. I know that is a big ask since some of us are meeting for the very first time BUT, I am asking anyway. Trust this process. Pick one small step, do it, rinse and repeat.

Be patient and stay consistent with small, achievable steps and the results will come.

They may even come quicker than you anticipated.

Why?

Because small steps that you barely notice have a tendency to stick.

Things that stick, make you feel good, and things that feel good get your attention and priority. Whatever gets your attention and priority gets results.

Period.

Read that again.

We often get caught up in the BIG picture and find ourselves overwhelmed and paralyzed.

It’s only 12 days into the new year when I am posting this and I am willing to bet that at some point in the last 12 days you have bombarded yourself with too many things and thought about quitting.

Am I right?

I’m here to remind you that you don’t have to do all the things today.

In fact, I suggest you don’t.

If you are looking to make real and lasting change (that doesn’t feel so hard) your daily habits are what will get you there. I love the saying that you can do ANYTHING but you can’t do EVERYTHING. Choose wisely and start small! Small enough that it feels easy.

I believe that health and wellness is not a one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one person may not work for another. That’s why I do my best to provide a variety of options and ideas that you can tailor to your individual needs and preferences if you decide to take my courses or work with me 1-on-1.

I am far from perfect and always a work in progress but a large key to my success has been tracking my goals as well as my progress. I have gone back and forth between writing them down on paper and using apps. They both serve a purpose, but for me pen and paper is always what I come back to.

The planner I am currently using can be found here. Full warning, this planner is only a 60 planner and it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s a commitment for sure. I am making the added effort for January and February because I have BIG goals for 2024 and I want to start off with a bang. However, if I’m being honest, I do not see myself doing this day in and day out for the rest of my life.

The app I was using when I began Small Daily Habits was the Ultiself App. It was what I needed at the time to get into the habit of tracking multiple things at once without having to track down the 10 pieces of paper I wrote them on. It got me organized and disciplined as to when and where I recorded things. But I missed writing them out.

Based on what I learned from the Ultiself app I created my own daily planner page that you can find here if you prefer to write things down. I have used it in the past and will continue to use it once I complete my 60 days in my current planner.

For me, writing things down is more intentional and makes me really focus on what I want. The act of writing it down also cements my resolve to complete it. If you prefer an app, you do you! You can learn more about the Ultiself App on my recommendations page.

Maybe this app/planner could be your ONE thing for this week to get you and keep you on track in 2024. Again, only you know where you need to begin.

If you are on board, you could make today’s goal to look the app or planner up and learn about it.

Tomorrow’s goal could be to sign up for the Ultiself App, order the planner, or print out my daily planner page.

Then you could explore and start using the app, the planner, or the page. You get the point. Take a larger goal with multiple parts and break it down into smaller, more manageable steps. You can literally do this with any and all goals/tasks.

I am far from perfect when it comes to healthy choices. Growing up in the restaurant business has made me into an adult who enjoys food immensely. I know exactly what my fitness routine needs to be, but I don’t always prioritize it. I also suffer from lack of motivation at times and put others before myself (#momlife).

As you can see, I don’t always make the right choices BUT……the majority of the time I do and that’s because I have practices in place and daily habits that help me to stay on track even when life gets busy. It’s called being human, finding balance, and enjoying life even when you aren’t being perfect. Progress over perfection is my motto. All or something is my goal. Small daily habits is my solution!
