It’s October 1st. A new month calls for new goals. With just 52 days until Thanksgiving and 85 days until Christmas I thought it would be fun to inspire my Small Daily Habits community to participate in a 30-day challenge with me. The holiday season often brings extra obligations and a whirlwind of activities that can add stress to our lives and derail us from our health goals. I want this year to be different. In the midst of the holiday chaos this year I want to prioritize my own well-being and create an environment in my home that promotes peace and tranquility. It’s my mission to help you navigate the season with intention and grace and live by the quote from David Allen “you can do anything, but you can’t do everything.” Choose wisely!
The Purpose of this Challenge:
The purpose of this challenge is multi-faceted and is a choose your own journey type of experience. We are all in different places in our health journeys and we all have different circumstances to consider so I designed this challenge with that in mind. Here are few things you can expect when you join in.
- To establish healthier habits (whatever that may be for you) in the 4 weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.
- Accountability
- Get into a positive mindset.
- Move more.
- Set yourself up for success in the kitchen.
- Prepare your home for the holidays.
- Head into the holidays feeling healthy, organized, and ready to conquer the season.
This challenge is divided into four weeks. Each week we will focus on nurturing a different aspect of our lives, mind, body, soul, and of course our homes. Let’s embark on this transformation together!
Week 1: Cultivating a Positive Mindset
Let’s face it! The holiday season can be overwhelming, and our mindset and health goals are often the first things to fall to the wayside. With endless to-do lists and high expectations this time of year we start to feel the crunch. That’s why the first week of this challenge we explore mindfulness strategies and ways of finding inner peace. We will take a few minutes each day to practice being mindful and engage in activities that bring joy and peace. I will have specific tasks outlined daily but you are free to explore your own ideas as well.
As said before, this is a choose your own adventure type of experience. I will be here as your guide and support system but ultimately you know yourself best and can choose to do what suits your needs. By choosing practices that nurture your mind, you’ll be creating a solid foundation for the rest of the challenge.

Week 2: Nurturing the Body
The holiday season is often rampant with opportunities for indulgent treats and hectic schedules, which makes prioritizing your physical health more important than ever. That’s why week 2 of the challenge is dedicated to all things body related. Movement, nutrition, hydration, and sleep will be our focus. It doesn’t matter where you currently are physically, the idea is to take small steps to establish easy to sustain habits during this hectic time of year. By taking care of your physical well-being, you’ll reap the rewards of having the energy and vitality to fully enjoy holiday festivities.
Week 3: Tending to the Soul
The hustle and bustle of the season aside, this time of year is a great opportunity for deeper reflection and connection with our inner self. During week 3 of the challenge, the focus will shift to nurturing your soul. We will engage in activities that help instill a spiritual fulfillment and will take the time needed to establish healthier self-care rituals. Nourishing your soul will cultivate a sense of inner peace and contentment to carry you through the season.
Week 4: Preparing your Home for the Holidays
Our homes are command central and as the holidays approach they become a central hub for family gatherings and celebrations. In week 4 we dedicate time to preparing our homes in hopes for a joyful and less stressful experience.
We will declutter and organize our busiest spaces, plan our big meals to alleviate last minute stress, and decorate to create a festive atmosphere. If decorations aren’t your thing, that’s fine too. The point is to create the ambience that brings you and your family the peace and joy of the season without all the stress. Then on the big day you can focus on connecting with loved ones and creating meaningful memories and traditions. By setting the stage and being prepared you will create a harmonious environment filled with memorable moments for all involved. Sound like the kind of holiday you want to create?
